On June 29, I blogged about Google+ challenges to Facebook in the realm of social networking and, as an old IT person I check to see what’s new in technology on a regular basis not only for my own benefit, but also to share technology on SpittalStreet that might be of use to genealogists.
According to PC World Magazine there are 9 reasons to switch from Facebook to Google+. Although I personally don’t think this will happen anytime soon, I do think that people will likely have online presence on both before making a change.
The article reports that those 9 reasons range from “ease-of-use to respect for data privacy”. The lack of privacy has been my main gripe with Facebook and I wonder if this is possible. What a concept!
We all know that Google is huge, in fact it’s so big that people refer to any internet search as Googling regardless of the search engine being used. The Google+ Project will being a pivotal part of Google’s whole identity and will essentially reshape the company.
The 9 reasons cover:
- Integration with Google Services
- Better friend Management
- Better Mobile App
- Easier to find stuff to share
- You can get your data back
- Better photo tagging
- Strong group chat features
- Safer content sharing
- Google is a better steward of your personal data.
