According to a Reuters London article that appeared on the West Australian newspaper site, geneticists in Zurich, Switzerland, have reconstructed the DNA profile of the boy Pharaoh and have concluded that up to 70 percent of British men and half of all the Western European men are related to Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun.
Apparently King Tut belonged to haplogroup R1b1a2, which includes 50 percent of all men in Western Europe. This means that they have a common ancestor. Interestingly, in Egyptians today this group is below 1 percent.
The geneticists don’t yet know how Tutankhamun’s paternal lineage arrive in Egypt from its region of origin and the center is now using DNA testing to search for the closest living relatives of King Tut.
