HootSuite hits 3 Million Users mark with 700 Million Sent Messages

HootSuite has just reached the 3 million user mark. The social media management dashboard appeared on the scene in December 2008 and hit 2 million mark in July 2011 then leapt to the 3 million mark with another million individuals and brands (Hootsuite dashboard helps marketers juggle multiple accounts).

During the six months between July 2011 and January 2012 HootSuite integrated our favorite social networks Facebook, Google+ pages and LinkedIn company pages and groups. Also launched was the App Directory.

Their App Directory permits all users to share content to You Tube, Flikr, Formulists, Tublr, Summify and others.

Prior to this users already had the latitude to distribute content on Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Foursquare, mixi, Ping.fm, Twitter and WordPress. Social Analytics was also launched in March.

Here’s a rundown of some of the things you can accomplish with the HootSuite social media dashboard:

“Multiple Networks

Save your time and your sanity. Monitor and post to multiple social networks, including Facebook and Twitter using the HootSuite dashboard.

Custom Analytics

Show off your social media success. Create custom reports from over 30 individual report modules to share with clients and colleagues. Track brand sentiment, follower growth, plus incorporate Facebook Insights and Google analytics all without leaving the dashboard.

Team Collaboration

HootSuite’s Pro and Enterprise plans allow you to have multiple contributors to your social profiles without sharing passwords. Assign messages for follow-up and track responses. From help desk to marketing, engage audiences at every level of your organization.

Schedule Messages

Ensure your messages never get missed. Draft and schedule messages to send at a time your audience is most likely to be online. And with HootSuite Pro and Enterprise plans you can batch-schedule up to 50 unique messages at one time.

Mobile Apps

HootSuite wherever you go. Get the dashboard for your iPhone/ iPad, BlackBerry or Android mobile device — free — so you can monitor and message anywhere from airports to elevators.”

There are many other features including Ow.ly Custom urls which is a URL shortening tool.

Is this a great application  for family history researchers and genealogists too? Absolutely!  Nowadays we use, or are learning to use, multiple channels.

If you sign up for a free account you’ll get:  Free Quick Reports,  5 Social Profiles, 2 RSS/Atom Feeds, Ad Supported. If you’re just getting started, he basic free account is likely to be adequate for what you need without all the bells and whistles.

There’s also a Pro account for $5.99 and you’ll get a lot more including a free 30-day trial.
