If you live close to the Walker County Library and are anxious to make a start in family history research, the following announcement about beginning genealogy classes from the county library will help you get started:

“LaFayette-Walker County Library will host Create Your Own Story @ Your Library, a series of workshops designed for beginners, to promote awareness of the Georgia History and Genealogy Room and to encourage the community to locate and follow the roots of their family tree.

The workshops will occur over a series of weeks, with participants being trained by Genealogy professionals on how to collect basic information to use as a starting point, how to use free tools provided by the library, and how to organize the information they find into a historical narrative.

These free workshops are open to adults of all ages. Sign-up sheets will be available starting January 3rd at the front desk of the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library.  Classes will begin the first week in February, dates and times to be announced.  For further information, please contact Jill Trubey at jtrubey@chrl.org or 706-638-4912.”
